Ocean Life
Ocean life is a big part of the earths creatures, resources, and life style. Many organisms in the ocean we use for food, companionship, and to help other types of animals. There are many types of organisms under the sea, but scientist have not discovered all of them. Most deep sea organisms are undiscovered by humans. There are three different types of life in the ocean: bethnic, nekton, and plankton. The plankton are organisms that float or drift freely near the oceans surface and are mostly microscopic organisms. The nekton are organisms that swim actively through the ocean. This includes mammals and a variety of fish. The bethnic are organisms that live on or in the open ocean; such as crabs, clams, starfish, worms, coral, etc. There are also environments of the ocean that each have different zones. The bethnic environment is the region near the ocean floor and all the organisms that live there. The first zone is the intertidal zone; which is the shallowest bethnic zone, located between low tide and high tide limits. Life here is partly underwater, but mostly on land or the beach. The second zone is sublittoral zone. This zone begins where the intertidal ends, at low tide limit. Organisms here are always covered in water, this zone includes coral reefs. The sunlight, pressure, and tempurature are constant in these areas. The third zone is the bathyal zone. It extends from the edge of the continental shelf to the abyssal plain. The depth here is from 200m-4,000m. The life here includes sponges, brachiopods, sea stars, and octopi. The abyssal zone is the forth zone, reaching 4,000m in depth. This includes black smokers, crabs, sponges, worms, sea cucumbers, and other life. The Hadal zone is the fifth and deepest zone, consisting of the ocean floor trenches and the organisms found here. Most life in this area is unknown to scientist because it is so deep, but have found some species of worms and sponges, that is all. All the living organisms are used for more than just the circle of life, they are also used as food and resources for humans. Fish, seaweed, coral, clams, and other things are living resources we get from the ocean. Ocean life is life from another world, a water world.
